Andres

Dr. Andres Hernandez.  I obtained my doctorate (Doctor of Psychology, Psy.D.) from Rutgers University in 1993, and then completed an APA-accredited internship at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science of Baylor College of Medicine, where I also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in clinical psychology. In 1994, I joined the faculty at Baylor College of Medicine at the rank of Assistant Professor and became the attending psychologist at the Children’s Assessment Center in Houston, a multidisciplinary team of first responders, health care and law enforcement professionals dealing with intra-familial child sexual abuse. In 1997, I became a supervisory psychologist and program manager for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, where I had the privilege of acquiring national and international recognition for my clinical work and research. In my 20 years with the Bureau, I provided essential consultation to the agency in program design, implementation and staff training.

Over my career, I have accomplished a lengthy record of scholarly activities including publications, public and congressional statements, and delivery of over 75 invited lectures, workshops and other training programs on the topic of sex offender evaluation, treatment and risk management. I have been a frequent guest lecturer at the Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill Law Schools. In 2009, I received the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre Award for Outstanding Contributions to Child Protection, conferred by the law enforcement community of the United Kingdom. In 2010, I was awarded the Pro Humanitate Literary Award “literary works which best exemplify the intellectual integrity and moral courage required to transcend political and social barriers to promote best practice in the field of children welfare, conferred by The Center for Child Welfare Policy of the North American Resource Center for Child Welfare.

In 2017, I retired from federal service as a supervisory psychologist and law enforcement professional to devote myself to private practice on a full-time basis.

Sexy

Dr. Cynthia Hernandez.  I started my college education at the University of Minnesota, graduating Suma Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Child Psychology and then went on to get my doctorate in clinical psychology from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology. After completing my predoctoral internship at the Federal Correctional Institution in Morgantown, WV, in 1997, I decided to pursue my career as a psychologist in a law enforcement capacity with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. In my 24 years with the Bureau, I had positions of increasing responsibility as a psychologist and program manager. I managed the largest residential drug abuse treatment program in the country, which served as a model for the implementation of other therapeutic communities for drug-addicted offenders.

In 2021, I retired from federal service and joined the practice full-time.  I enjoy helping men and women in therapy work through life’s trials to live in a manner consistent with their goals, values and purpose. Additionally, I have a special interest in helping our veterans, law enforcement personnel, and other first responders who sacrifice so much and so often suffer in silence.
